Windowslink - COM Port Already Open

This means that the COM Port that you are trying to use is currently in use. It may mean that you have the wrong COM port selected or that you have another program running in the background that may be using the com port.

Go into "Change Port" from the Synch with PMU screen and check that the COM port is correct. If there are two or more options available (e.g. COM1 and COM2) try one that is not currently selected and see if that works. Once you have selected the COM port, press ok and then try and synchronize again.

It is quite possible that there are other programs running on the computer that may be interfering with the communication between the PocketMail Device and the PC. Try and see if there are any programs clearly visible that are running and shut these down. Once you have done that, try to synchronise again.

If this hasn't worked, and you are sure it is the correct COM port, press "ctrl+alt+del" and u should be able to see a list of tasks or programs running. Try and end as many of these tasks as possible. Make sure that you do not "end task" on explorer.exe or winlink.exe. Both of these are vital to being able to synchronize. Then try and synchronize again. If this still doesn't work, it will most likely be hardware installed in your system that is interrupting the transmission. The easiest way to get around this is to try and plug the serial PC link cable into another COM port available on the computer and try changing the COM port in the synchronise options.
